The Lost World
The Lost World
A poster of the beautiful misty clouds of Mount Roraima at dawn. The text on this poster reads 'In 1912, Arthur Conan Doyle published his celebrated novel The Lost World in which four Victorian explorers set out to unchartered South America and discovered a mysterious plateau in the midst of the rainforest. While Arthur COnan Doyle's story was fictional, it was loosely based on the readl expedition of Everard im Thurn and Henry Perkins, who in 1884, after many weeks of journeying, succeeded in reaching and exploring the summit of Mount Roraima for the first time. Pictured here are the spectaular vertical cliffs of Mount Roraima that rise up to 800 metres above the surrounding rainforests and savannahs and are lost in the clouds above.'
